Beautillion 2010 Saturday, March 27, 2010 Introduction
Introduction
The San Francisco Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. presents Beautillion 2010, "A Man Among Men Developing Leadership and Character During a Time of Change."
With this year we celebrate the 12th
biennial Beautillion. We have fostered considerable thought, vision,
and inspiration toward program development in order to provide our young men with an exceptional and added-value opportunity as they experience this 'rites-of-passage' program.
What is Beautillion?
The Beautillion is a celebration of the achievements of young African American men who are high school juniors and seniors, or college freshmen. These young men, or "Beaux", represent a select few of the many candidates nominated to be honored at Beautillion 2010. Each Beau is chosen in recognition of his demonstrated achievements in academics, sports, the arts, community and church involvement, leadership, and his overall commitment to the advancement of African Americans. All Beaux must plan to continue their education.
Beautillion's Goals
To recognize the achievements of young African-American men as a community.
To inspire and stimulate further growth, academic excellence, community service learning, and leadership development. To enhance their sense of civic responsibility and appreciation for cultural heritage. To bring about self-awareness, self-determination, self-actualization and purpose greater than self. The Beaux participate in programs specifically designed with these goals in mind. Beautillion is the culmination of dedicated efforts and planning by the Beautillion committee of the San Francisco Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. |
