KICK-OFF RECEPTION

Beautillion 2004 was officially ushered in at a Kick-off reception on January 10, 2004. Beaux and their parents were treated to delicious foods and sweeping downtown views from the 25th floor of the Hotel Nikko, the official hotelier for Beautillion 2004. Beaux from the 2002 program spoke eloquently about their Beautillion experience and brought everyone up-to-date on their current academic and career endeavors. There were also several Belles in attendance.

Beautillion 2004 Chairperson, Angelique Tompkins, provided the Beaux with information about Program content and outlined expectations.

Geol Weirs, Deputy Director of Museum of the African Diaspora discusses how beaux will partner with the museum to capture reflections of their experience through Beautillion as a journey or 'rite-'of-passage'. In particular the young men will examine "What is the relevance of the African Diaspora to seventeen and eighteen year-olds?"
